The Humanist Society
- issues a monthly newsletter (February to November) to members
- creates podcasts on topical Humanist issues
- makes representations to Government and public bodies on issues of concern
- provides educational information to schools on Humanist philosophy and related topics, on request
- registers Humanist marriage and civil union celebrants
- conducts Humanist ceremonies for namings, weddings, civil unions and funerals
- organises an Annual Seminar in conjunction with the AGM
- holds monthly discussion sessions from February to November
- periodically organises national and international speakers on Humanist philosophy, other belief systems, current political and social issues
- organises an annual Darwin Day celebration
- celebrates Winter Solstice
- organises donations and awards
- provides scholarships and other support to the SOCH Humanist School in Kathmandu, Nepal
- maintains a library of Humanist books and journals (based in Wellington)
- maintains contact with national bodies with similar interests
- is a member of the International Humanist Ethical Union (IHEU)
- is an affiliated member of the United Nations Association of NZ
